1957 Continental Mark II

The following 4 paragraphs of text was provided by Ford Motor Company's "Stockholder's Guide to the 1957 Ford Family of Fine Cars"
Rather than follow the American automobile custom of introducing styling changes each year, the Continental conforms to the European pattern of "design endurance", preserving its styling features for several years. For this reason, the current Continental is designated as "Mark II" rather than a 1956 or other model year.

The modern, formal styling of the Continental Mark II is characterized by simplicity of line, dignity, and elegance. This styling concept is different enough and advanced enough to endure over a longer period of time without any loss of distinctiveness or appeal.

Four new iridescent colors are being made available- silver, gold, blue, and green. These new Lucite lacquers provide exceptionally high lustre and durability.

The Continental Mark II is produced under the direction of the Company's Lincoln Division.

Barry Wolk, who owns one of two 1956 Mark II Convertibles produced, adds that the last sentence (as provided by Ford) is not entirely correct. Barry tells LOVEfords that the Mark II was produced by the Continental Division of Ford Motor Company, and the Lincoln Division did not have oversight of is operations. Thank you, Barry, for this important information on the history of the Mark II. - (s) LOVEfords.
