| The 1959 Lincoln line was
available in two series: the Lincoln and the
Premiere. Both series offered a 2-door Hardtop
(Coupe), a 4-door Hardtop (Landau), and a 4-door Sedan.
The 1959 Mark IV Continental was offered in a
2-door Hardtop (Coupe), 4-door Hardtop (Landau), 4-door Sedan, 2-door
Convertible, 4-door Town Car, and 4-door Limousine. The
Continental Coupe, Landau, Sedan, and
Convertible had a distinctive roofline with a
retracting, power-operated rear window.
The Landau name was used by Lincoln and
Continental in 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1960 to designate the pillarless,
4-door hardtop body style.
The Continental
Town Car and Limousine were available only by special order. They were
nearly identical except for the power-operated chauffeur/passenger divider window
and rear seat radio/heater controls
on the Limousine. No options were offered (everything was standard
equipment), and these two models came in just one color: Presidential Black.
The Town Car was offered with either a gray wool broadcloth interior or a
black leather interior. The Limousine was offered with a gray wool
broadcloth passenger compartment and a black leather chauffeur
compartment. |
