FACT: Ford's attention to detail brings you luxuries and conveniences not available in Plymouth at any price!
Ford Convertible rear windows are made of pliant and scratch-resistant glass that won't yellow. It does not have to be removed when top is lowered and can be let down when desired. Plymouth (as in previous years) uses plastic for rear windows of their convertibles...must be unzipped each time you lower the top.
FORD: The luggage compartment has 19.1 cubic feet of usable volume. It will hold four 2-suiters standing up, plus a large assortment of other luggage.
PLYMOUTH: The trunk has a useful volume of 16.8 cubic feet. With one men's 2-suiter standing up Plymouth's trunk lid won't close.

Ford's Basic Power Team

Ford offers a wider range of horsepower from 150 to 425 - in a choice of 5 engine sizes. And Ford's basic power team gives you advanced engine design.

  • 3-speed manual transmission, fully synchronized
  • 240-cubic inch BIG SIX
  • 150 horsepower
  • 7 main bearings
  • Hydraulic valve lifters

FORD: 7 main bearings make this brand-new Six as smooth as some V-8's. Hydraulic valve lifters help it run quieter.

Plymouth's Basic Power Team

Plymouth offers a range of 145 to 365 horsepower...and a V-8 design that dates back to 1955. And Plymouth's basic power is weaker, too.

  • 3-speed manual transmission, synchronized on 2 gears only
  • 225-cubic inch Six
  • 145 horsepower
  • 4 main bearings
  • Mechanical valve lifters

PLYMOUTH: This Six design is 5 years old. Four bearings mean less smoothness. Mechanical valve lifters are noisier and need more care.
