Thunderbird's three luxurious models - two-door hardtop, and two- and four-door Landaus - continue to set the styling pace among prestige personal cars. All 1970 Thunderbirds feature a hood that has been extended nearly six inches, a distinctive new grille, exposed headlamps, and full-width taillamps.

Other major Thunderbird features for 1970 are radial-ply tires, concealed windshield wipers and radio antenna, a new Special Brougham option group for the in ultimate in sports/luxury appointments and optional body side moldings with colored vinyl inserts.

Bench seats are standard, with high-back bucket seats and split bench seats available as options. The standard interior is all-vinyl of pleated design, available in black, white, dark blue, and dark ivy green.

Standard engine for 1970 is the 429-cubic inch, 4-barrel V-8. Also standard is the fully automatic SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic transmission. Traction-Lok rear axle, which gives extra traction in mud or snow, is optional on all 1970 models.
