To borrow
an advertising phrase used for another spectacular Ford product, the 1959
Galaxie, the Lincoln Versailles was most certainly Ford's "Glamour Car" of
1977. Not to be outdone by Cadillac's Seville, Ford introduced the Lincoln
Versailles late in the model run, but it still managed to sell over 15,000
units in its first year. It had a long list of standard equipment, a
super-plush interior, more sound-deadening than the big Lincolns, and the
engines were hand-matched to the transmissions to insure a vibration-free
combination. |
