This
is Gary and Susan Carson's 1963 Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe. Your keen
Ford-loving eye will note the 289 4V V-8 engine badge on the front
fender, and how about those wonderful wire wheel covers! The Carsons
belong to the
Fairlane Club of America and Gary
proudly states "We love our car....". If you are in the Whitby,
Ontario area you may be lucky enough to spot this beauty on the road,
as it is a regular cruiser during the warm months when they are in
residence.
This
Fairlane is a shining example of everything that was right in the
world of automotive styling in the early 1960s. It was part of the
group of Ford cars with spirited engines, bucket seats and console,
high-level trim, and Thunderbird-inspired styling. Ford said that the
'63 Fairlane was "...in a league by itself..." It had (1) big car room
and comfort, (2) all the luxury touches you'd expect in more expensive
models, and (3) smooth, quiet, big car ride. LOVEfords agrees and we
know you do, too.
