Curtis Driedger says:
Here is a car that will not be familiar to Ford lovers in
the U.S.A. The Meteor is a rebadged standard Ford that was built and sold
in Canada only between the years 1949-61. It was created in order that
Mercury dealers would have an economy car to sell, paralleling the Ford
dealers (who in turn sold a Mercury clone, the Monarch). In this picture,
one can see a hint of Mercury styling in the front end.
This car is a mild custom that
we call the "Cherry Bomb". The standard 239 cu. in. V8 has been retained,
and with dual Hollywood mufflers it emits about the sweetest exhaust
burble you could ever imagine. We have owned this car since '02. We bought
if from a man in our neighbourhood, but we have no idea who may have done
the makeover. It looks like it was done sometime in the sixties, judging
by the white tufted naugahyde interior, also the chrome reverse rims it
sported when we took possession. |
