Parl Guthrie says: I'm in the process of moving forward with
my 1975 Ford Granada project. I want to do much of what I did with my
1965 Mustang. If you look in
Galleries section for my '65 Mustang, you will see what I hope to
accomplish with the Granada.
I have removed the propane options from the Granada and now I'm
concentrating on pure power, and probably the only one in the country
that is crazy enough to turn a Granada into a Hot Rod! This is a classic
first year 1975 Ford Granada Ghia two door with leather interior. I
bought this car new in 1975 and it is in exceptional condition, because
it has been either under a carport, or garaged it's entire life.
Here is what I have done so far:
1. Replaced the stock 302 V8 engine with a high performance 351 Windsor
engine with Keith & Black forged pistons,
2. I have had the transmission under a life time warranty for the last
25 years with AAMCO.
3. It has a posi-traction rear end.
4. The entire suspension system has been replaced and has all new
bushings.
5. Just bought new Ultra 160 chrome wheels with 295-50-15 tires under
the rear end, no modification to body was necessary.
6. Had hood louvered for a 50's style look with cabled hood locks.
7. Replaced the stock gas tank because it was off set to the left side
of the vehicle and wouldn't allow dual exhaust.
8. Installed a brand new Magna Flow exhaust system with 2 & 1/2 inch
pipes and 3 & 1/2 inch wide extensions.
9. Added various other things like manual gauges, tachometer on the
dash, AM/FM CD player and Grant steering wheel.
Here is what I have planned to do:
1. Get a new pint job the same color as my VTX 1800 motorcycle, see
picture.
2. Install a new black vinyl top.
3. Install a new electric sun roof.
4. Replace single four barrel carburetor with two 500 cfm dual quad
Edelbrook carburetors.
5. Replace the Ghia type bumpers with new chrome bumpers without the
Ghia options on them for a smoother look.
6. Replace the stock leather seats with 2003 leather Mustang seats and
upholster, the back seat to match.
7. Replace the current electrical system with a new MSD system like I
have on my 65 Mustang.
I bought the car new in 1975 and have been improving it
every since. |
