1963 Mercury Monterey Custom S-55
2-door Breezeway Hardtop |

|
The 1963 Mercury S-55 was
offered in four body styles: the 2-door Convertible, the 2-door Marauder
Hardtop, the 4-door Breezeway Hardtop, and the 2-door Breezeway Hardtop
shown here. The standard engine was the Marauder Super 390 V-8 with
4-barrel carburetor, but the Marauder 390 V-8 with 2-barrel carburetor was
a no-cost option. Transmission choices at no extra cost included
Multi-Drive Merc-O-Matic or 4-speed manual. If you chose the 2-barrel 390
V-8, you could also choose 3-speed manual transmission.
There's no mistaking the S-55,
a sizzler that delivers the luxury of the Monterey Custom series plus
sports car features - individually adjustable bucket seats, bright-metal
floor console with shift lever and storage compartment and exclusive red
and white courtesy lights inside of doors. Open one of those doors. But
once you do, be prepared for a new brand of beauty, a new kind of driving
excitement. |
