Henry Ford bought and restored this 1836 hostelry, which once served as a stage stop on the line between Detroit and Chicago. Today it maintains a century-old reputation for hospitality combined with delicious meals. Lunch and dinner served every day except Monday.


  Escalloped Tomatoes


Ingredients
  • 1 #2 1/2 can tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, chopped fine
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cups dry bread cubes
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Directions

1. Sauté onion in butter, using an iron frying pan.

2. Add bread cubes and sugar; cook slowly.

3. Stir in tomatoes and seasoning.

4. Place mixture in buttered shallow pan and bake 45 minutes in medium oven.
