For nearly 100 years this restaurant has been a popular stopping place for hungry travelers. In the early days it was the stagecoach that pulled up at the friendly entrance way where today cars crowd. Open from 11:00AM to 9:00PM, except Monday. Closed from December to April 1.


  Sweet and Sour Cucumbers


Ingredients
  • 1 dozen medium-size cucumbers
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 medium-size onion
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pint sweet whipping cream
  • 1 pint vinegar

Directions

1. Wash, peel, and slice cucumbers and place in earthen jar.

2. Add salt and sliced onion, then cover jar with cheesecloth, plate, and weight. Let stand 6 hours and drain off water.

3. Add sugar and mix until dissolved; then add pepper and vinegar.

4. Stir in cream.  Put in refrigerator until cold and crisp.
